Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English Literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Then, she became a Washington general correspondent of NBC News two years later. In 1981 she started reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was promoted to chief congressional reporter. She became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief International Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debate between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for her outstanding performance in the field of journalism. In 2004 it was the year that Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on The White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. She covered a myriad of important stories like weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal and traveled extensively with President Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world presidents.
